You need to consider the style of your new skateboarding deck before you get into the technical aspects. This needs to be on the top of your list because skateboarding is a lot about style. Who is your favorite skater? What is your favorite team or company? What kind of graphics do you like. You need to consider all these things because you want to be proud of the way your skateboard looks.

Now that you have the style part down, you need to decide what kind of skating you are going to use your new skateboarding deck for. This will determine what size your skateboard should be.

If you are going to be doing a lot of skating on vert ramps or pools, you are going to want to have a wider board that is a little more stable. This means you will probably want a skateboard that is 8.25 to 8.5 inches.

If you are going to use the skateboard for a lot of street skating or doing a lot of technical tricks, you probably want to get a narrower skateboard that will allow you to do flip tricks easier than if you are using a wider board. Skateboards that are 7.5, 7.75, or 8.0 inches are commonly used for this type of skating.

If you want to get a skateboard deck that will work well for all types of skating, you could choose a skateboard deck that is 8.0 inches wide and have a nice all purpose skateboard.

If you are going to be cruising around and not really do any tough tricks, you could consider old school deck or a longboard.

Whatever type of skateboarding you plan to do, thinking about it a little before you buy the first cool skateboard deck you see will make sure your new skateboard deck gives you years of service in addition to just looking cool! Good luck on your quest for the perfect skateboard deck.

Birdhouse skateboards is one of the biggest skating companies in the world! It was made by Tony Hawk! Birdhouse Skateboards has some awesome pro skateboarders like Tony Hawk, Shawn White, Steve Nesser, Matt Ball, Willy Santos, Jeremy Klein, and Riley Hawk! They also have cool boards and videos.

Tony Hawk (A.K.A. The Bird Man) was born in San Diego, California on May 12, 1968! Tony describes him self growing as a nightmare! He also said “Instead of the terrible twos, I was the terrible youth! He was always very determined to. If he couldn’t do something he would be very harsh on himself.

His older brother Steve gave Tony his first skateboard when he was 9. Steve thought maybe it would help Tony settle down a bit and give him something to work at! And it did! As Tony became better at skateboarding he began to calm down!

But Tony would still beat himself up if he thought he didn’t skate his best. If he won a contest but thought he could do better he would go home and go to his bedroom and lock the door so he could be by himself.

By the age of 12 Tony was sponsored by Dogtown skateboards! He turned pro when he only 14! By 16 he was one of the best skaters in the world! In 1990 he married a girl named Cindy Dunbar! In 1992 they had their first son Riley Hawk! But as time went on skateboarding started to die down. Tony was losing lots of money. So he decided to start his own skateboarding company. As you may have guessed he called it Birdhouse. In 1994 Tony and Cindy got a divorce.

A few years later skateboarding started to get some of its thunder back! Birdhouse got more and more popular to! Tony got most of his money back again! In 1996 He got remarried! Just this time to girl named Erin Lee. In 1998 Tony and his family started a kids clothing company called “Hawk clothing”!

In 1998 Activision made the first Tony Hawk game “Tony Hawk’s Pro skater (THPS)” for the Play Station. The game was a huge hit! The next year the “Tony Hawk’s Pro skater 2 (THPS2)” game came out! It too was a huge hit! Today there are 9 Tony Hawk games not including “Tony Hawks down hill jam”!

In 1991 Erin gave birth to Tony’s second son Spencer! And then again in 2001 to Tony’s third son Keegan! In 2002 Tony created the Boom Boom HuckJam tour which featured some of the best pro skaters, BMX riders, and motocross riders! It was very popular! Every show was sold out! In 2004 Erin and Tony got a divorce.

Tony Hawk even has a roller coaster at the Six Flags in San Antonio and in St.Louis!
Its called “Tony Hawk’s big spin”! They are also working on a Tony Hawk water ride called “Tony Hawks half pipe”!

Tony got remarried again in 2006 to Lhotse Merriam! She gave birth to Tony’s first daughter Kadence in July of this year! Today Tony is pretty much retired from skateboarding. He still skates for fun and does a demo every once and a while.

Now you may be thinking Birdhouse Skateboards is just Tony Hawk, but there are a bunch of other skaters that make Birdhouse Skateboards who they are. Below are just a few.

Shaun White was born in Carlsbad, California on September 3, 1986! He is mostly known for his awesome snowboarding skills. But he has proved that he has what it takes to be a pro skateboarder. Shaun White’s nickname is “Flying Tomato” because of his red hair! At first he liked his nickname. He would actually wear t-shirts and head bands and other stuff like that that say “Flying Tomato” on them! He likes to skate vert

Matt Ball was born in Pensacole, Florida. He has been skateboarding for 12 years. He is living in Ontario, California. He is also sponsored by Pig Wheels!

Willy Santos was born in the Philippines. He now lives in Poway, California. He has been skateboarding for 19 years!

Riley Hawk was born in San Diego California in 1992. He is Tony Hawk’s son (obviously)! Riley isn’t pro yet, but he is getting there! He is sponsored by Volcom , Monster, Adio, and Nixon!

As an avid Kite Surfer I’ve been following with some interest the various blogs and vids of those European guys using Skorpion Multi Terrain roller skates for kite skating. I must say first I was a bit cynical thinking it was all a bit of a fad but it traction and risen in popularity. So last month I decided to go for it and get myself a pair of Skorpion Multi Terrain skates from the Skorpion web shop.

It has been ages since i’ve used skates and never really got into the roller blading scene. But these looked different – stable with a lower centre of gravity.

I’ve never been one for reading instructions so I just strapped them on and gave them a go as soon as i got them. I didn’t take long to learn how to manouvre them and surpisingly the turning action is very similar to skiing.

So getting the kite up with the skates took a bit of getting use to but nothing too tricky. I found myself a big space, plenty of grass and just a few people around. I can get out in all kinds of places but the best for me is the beach as the hard wet sand is the perfect base and you can really go fast and get some air.

At $149.99 i think that Skorpion Multi Terrain Skates are a good deal given the extra options they give for kite skating, and if your into your kite surfing then I’d definately recommend giving these a go.

What a buzz, what a ride! Been learning how to kite surf and I’m lovin it. The only problem where I live is the best place to kite surf is dependent on the tide; it needs to be high tide to get out on the water, but that’s not always convenient and only gives a small window of opportunity, or it did do until I found out what some kite surfers in Europe are doing. Check out the following youtube video:

They are using an off road quad roller skate that can race them across the harder wet sand on a beach at low tide. They are the off-road Skorpion Multi Terrain skates with 115mm or 130mm wide tyre mag wheels. What’s cool is you wear your own shoes, just strap them on using snow board binding type straps. Now I can practice pretty much whenever i want, i don’t even need to be at the beach, they really well on the grass wherever i can get that kite up and have some space.

If your looking for something a bit different then I would recommend checking this out. I even took them for a run on a dirt track, without the kite – a couple of heart in mouth moments but what a ride!

Undoubtedly, parachuting is among the most popular sports in its genre. Much of its popularity can be imputed to the portrayal of this dare devil sport in the movies and ads. But unfortunately, parachuting is no cheap sport.

Purchase of a brand-new complete set of equipment can really be very expensive, not to mention skydiving lessons, skydiving apparel, and the cost of an actual jump. That is why it is important to know where and how to find the best parachuting equipment for you.

Finding the Best Parachuting Equipment
The main part of your equipment is the chute system. A special backpack is used to keep two parachutes. While years ago, only one parachute is required, now skydivers are required to pack a second one in case the first parachute fails to open. This backpack has straps for your legs and chest.

You can also have an automatic activation device, a mechanism that triggers the opening of the parachute at a certain altitude if you fail to activate its opening. This fail-safe mechanism makes it an essential part of any parachuting equipment.

Generally, newbies are advised to use bigger parachutes. As one becomes more skilled, your parachute may be smaller and more responsive.

Now to purchase this equipment, there are two options for you. If you are seriously thinking of making skydiving a sport, then it is wise to invest in new gear. Or you may also purchase used ones which may be relatively cheaper but are just as durable as well.

You can browse through skydiving websites which also feature equipment for sale, or some other sites which support online purchases. Here you can see the different kinds of parachutes available. Some sites even compare the equipment by price and performance.

Best Parachuting Equipment
Some sites have forums for skydiving enthusiasts. You may post questions and read postings to give you an idea on which equipment to buy. Since these members are more knowledgeable because they are speaking through experience, it is wise to follow their advice.

Skateboarding has become one of the most popular activities of the youth nowadays. It has evolved from being just a rebellious activity back in its older days to a fully-blown extreme sport that it is today.

According to recent statistics, there are over twelve million skateboarders worldwide and more than 80 percent of these skateboarders are under 18 years old. It has touched the younger markets quite well and has a firm grip on them. Some of these skateboarders skate as a hobby or as a means of transportation, but very few of these skaters go on into the big leagues to become a professional skateboarder.

The industry of skateboarding is a big one. Armed with a huge market, skateboarding has become a multi-billion dollar industry. The mere fact that it is very popular with the young generations and getting into skateboarding is quite easy, there is a lot of money to be made from selling products, advertising and events organizing.

What does being a professional skateboarder exactly mean? Well, as in any other sport, going professional means using the sport as a means to earn money. If you get paid for your skateboarding abilities and skills, then you are a pro skateboarder.

Many of the great skateboarders such as Reese Forbes, Kareem Campbell and Ron Bertino began their careers from humble beginnings. The dynamics of commercialism really gives the much needed financial value to the sport that is skateboarding. But, how does one earn from skateboarding?

One popular way of earning from skateboarding, as many people would see it, is to join and win skateboarding tournaments. Yes, indeed, there is some money to be made from regularly joining these tournaments and these tournaments provide avenues for skateboarders to be recognized, but in reality, the real money in professional skateboarding does not lie in winning tournaments. The bulk of the money comes from deals arising from the endorsements of skateboarding products.

The journey of a professional skateboarder would start in the streets, where he would take endless attempts to do new tricks and perform new stunts. These tricks and stunts are to be displayed in tournaments which the different sponsors are carefully keeping an eye on. If a certain company sees a skateboarder with much talent and has a promising career, they would give him free stuff for him to use. This move is also advantageous for the company since the skateboarder will sort of “endorse” their products. When a skateboarder has become a crowd favorite and catches the attention of everyone, then talks are usually made for endorsement deals, and the money will come in.

Skateboarding shoes and other apparels are the real cash cows in the skateboarding industry and not the skateboards themselves. Actually, other shoe lines have suffered losses because of the rise in popularity of “urban” shoes which cater to the lifestyle of skateboarders.

If you really love the sport that is skateboarding, you’d probably dreaming of being a professional skateboarder someday. There’s no harm in dreaming such things since being a professional skateboarder can really bring in lots of benefits. Going pro can bring things like money and fame into the table, but at the end of the day, what really matters is that you enjoy what you are doing.

If you love to spend your vacation in the water and you are the adventurous type, then wakeboarding is just the sport for you. This board sport is relatively new but has gained popularity during the last few years.

In wakeboarding, a boat with a rope tows the rider. The rider rides on a buoyant board, called a wakeboard, and uses the wake to launch himself up into the air and then back into the water. Though this may sound simple, there are quite a few tricks and spins to learn before you can master the sport.

The essentials for wakeboarding are wakeboards and wakeropes. Wakeboard length varies between 120 and 150 centimeters and the wakeboard width is between 40 and 45 centimeters. Beginners should begin with longer wakeboards with square edges or square rails. Square-edged boards are more stable and easier to control, though round-edged boards are easier to land. Round edges also allow boards to easily gain speed, providing quicker lifts during air tricks. Krown, Hyperlite, Liquid Force and CWB are specialized wakeboard manufacturers and their wakeboards cost between $350 to $600.

Experienced wakeboard riders also take into consideration the rockers, fins, bindings and the design of the board. Bindings or boots provide a secure attachment to the boards and should provide a comfortable support for the heel and ankle.

Wakeboard ropes vary in elasticity and length. The length of a wakerope is normally between 60 and 70 feet. They may be one-piece, which does not allow any length adjustments, or may come with adjustment loops. A tighter and stiffer rope allows little stretch and is used to perform air tricks.

Wake boats nowadays come with wakeboard towers. Instead of the rope being mounted on the back of the boat, the rope is mounted on a tower, which is normally 2 to 3 meters from the water level. Wakeboard towers allow a better pull and stability and also enable a rider to gain more air height while performing tricks. The towers also provide additional space for wakeboard racks, wakeboard speakers and lights. Fly High and Skylon are the more established wakeboard tower manufacturers and the price ranges from $900 to more than $2000.

Wakeboard accessories add color to the sport. Wakeboard speakers may be attached to the towers and can be used to play music or to give instructions to the riders, especially beginners. Waterproof covers are also available for the wakeboard speakers. If you want to flaunt your skills at night, then you can also add wakeboard lights. Handles should be comfortable to hold on to and most come with rubber padding. Beginners should also use wakeboard helmets for additional safety. Eye-catching wakeboard apparels are also available with wakeboard dealers.

Formula One Racing is officially an international sport. The country where Formula One racing now has a home has increased over the years. This sport that began a hobby for the ‘privileged’ few has reached mass appeal. Formula One racing is no longer an international sport dominated by Europeans in Italy. Teams from the United States and the UK are making names for themselves in international Formula One championship races.

To demonstrate the popularity that Formula One racing has, one need only look at the interest in the World Championships. Over 200 million people worldwide will watch this event on television or view it in person. The popularity of Formula One racing is only rivaled by the love of soccer as a sport.

Although Europe remains the historical center as well for Formula One, Grand Prix’s are being held in many countries throughout the world. In the United States, the most noteworthy Grand Prix is held in Indiana; the United States Grand Prix. Other countries hosting grand prix’s that are new to Formula One racing are Australia, Spain, Monaco and France, as well as many others.

For some countries, however, the high cost of constructing a track and hosting the fans of a grand prix can prove to be too much. Formula One racing has rightly gained the reputation of a rich man’s sport, and therefore it’s understandable that newly modernizing countries would have hesitations.

The World Driver Championships, which is an award given at the World Championship for best driver, might be a reason many different countries are getting into the fray with other Formula One racing countries. National pride, similar to that seen in the Olympics, could be fueling the interest.

Apparently, many countries outside of Europe are looking to host future Formula One racing championships. Some places where these Formula One racing events might occur include India. The places where Formula One racing won’t be taking hold seem to be lessening by the day.

Many countries, swept up by the spirit of the game, have recruited drivers from other countries to represent their own. It seems that lately where Formula One racing is might be the last place conventional fans would think of it being. South African Grand Prix’s, as well as races in Singapore, Malaysia, Turkey and even Japan currently have built elaborate speedway in their own countries.

Europe still holds the stronghold as far as races are concerned. The majority will be held in Europe. Nine of the 17 races to be held in the world in 2007 will be outside of Europe.

As the world continues to become more globally and technologically connected, so to will the world of Formula One racing. In America, there have been barriers to Formula One becoming a more recognized sport, most notably the access of it by television. Despite the barriers, of language and cultural differences, the appeal of Formula One racing will transcend any limitations. Where Formula One racing is, fans from across the globe will surely follow.

The races locations and dates can be found on the Formula One Website

A triathlon is one of the most brutal and taxing sports that you can take part in. However finishing a triathlon can also be one of the most rewarding things that you can do in a lifetime. The worst thing that you can do is signing up to compete in a triathlon without training properly. Many people think that if they are a good athlete and they are in good shape, then they can compete in and finish a triathlon without too much trouble. This is not true.

Competing in a triathlon is not like competing in any other sport. The first step in training for a triathlon is choosing which type of triathlon you would like to compete in. The different types of triathlons are the Sprint, Olympic, and Ironman triathlon. The Sprint is the easiest of the triathlons and the Ironman is the hardest. If you are a beginner, you should compete in the Sprint triathlon a few times, before moving on to one of the longer competitions.

Now that you have chosen the triathlon that is best suited for you, you need to start training. The triathlon is comprised of swimming, biking, and running. When deciding how to train, you should decide which one of these three disciplines you are the best at doing, and which one you are the worst. Then focus on spending more time training on the discipline you are the worst at doing.

Once you start training for the triathlon, you need to make sure that you continue to train, because stopping for any length of time will cost you many of the gains you have made. You should alternate days for training on the different disciplines, and also work in weight training and stretching sessions as well. You should also choose one day for resting where you do no training at all. This will allow your body to rest and gain its strength back for the next training session. Keep working towards your goal every day, and you will be finishing a triathlon in no time!

Kitesurfing or Kiteboarding, as some people like to call it, is gaining popularity for being an extreme sport. This is because it involves a certain amount of danger. However, you can keep the chances of having a kitesurfing accident to a minimum simply by following these tips:

1) Get proper training – kitesurfing is not an activity where you can just “wing it”. You need proper training in order for you to enjoy this activity. Actually, you need proper training in order to keep it safe for you and those who might be in your path. But where exactly do you get proper training?

Well, there might be a kitesurfing school near you, especially if you are in an area where the sport has many supporters. Such a school may be able to teach you the basics of the sport as well as give you some very valuable advice, which may just help you reduce the risk of a kitesurfing accident.

If you can’t find a school near you, try to find someone who has experience in the sport. He or she might be able to teach you the ropes and give you some tips on the more important points of kiteboarding safety.

2) Get the right equipment – a huge part of kiteboarding relies on the type of equipment you get. This means that you should try and get the best equipment possible. Before going on a shopping spree, try and do some research on what sort of equipment you are really going to need.

Why is getting the right equipment so important? You should realize that skills are not enough to propel you over the water, if you don’t have a board or a kite. That would be called swimming, not kitesurfing. Getting poor equipment can be very dangerous. You do not want your board collapsing or your kite ripping in the middle of a trick. This can become a very serious accident.

Actually, as the sport has gained popularity, it is also becoming safer for practitioners. Why? This is simply because technology has been developed specifically for the safety of the kitesurfer and for the increase in profits of various companies.

3) Choose the right location – kitesurfing is not a sport that you can just do anywhere. There are certain restrictions when it comes to the location. Some places, for example, ban kiteboarding from their shores. This is usually for safety reasons. If you want to engage in this activity, make sure that there is no heavy beach traffic. In other words, make sure that there are no people that you would likely hit.

If you are a beginner, make sure that you don’t go daredevil and attempt winds that are beyond your skills. Make sure that you practice on tamer locations before you attempt to board in more challenging locales. Ideally, you should make sure that the area you surf in is free of any obstructions such as power lines, rocks, or beaches.

4) Check the weather – Always remember that you will be playing with a force of nature. Learn to respect it. If you do not have the skills necessary to handle the winds, or if the weather turns bad, you had better not risk it.

You should listen to forecasts so you won’t find yourself in danger once you are in the water. Remember: the weather can change awfully fast.

There is something about an individual that is willing to jump from a high place, attached to a rubber band. This modern extreme sport, known as bungee jumping, seems to have it’s own culture attached to it. It’s almost ethereal, hard to put your finger on it, but it is there. Perhaps it comes from the past, or is a morphing into a new spiritual experience, but the bungee jumping culture can be seen and felt.

So what is the bungee jumping culture? Where did it come from? Where is it going? The origins of the sport itself gives us a clue as to where the bungee jumping culture came from. Originally a religious ritual used on the South Pacific island of Pentecost to appease mother earth, it was supposed to proved for a good yam crop. It was also a demarcation, a rite of passage, for young boys to become known as men. Since as long as anybody can tell, these natives have conducted this ritual every spring, literally for thousands of years. The prevailing culture of the original land divers was definitely a spiritual one.

Re-discovered in the 1950s and promoted heavily in the modern world during the 1980s, bungee jumping has grown by leaps and bounds. The modern bungee jumping culture doesn’t consist of primitive natives trying to appease the mother earth. However, there is a back-to-earth element to this extreme death defying outdoor sport. It provides a thrilling adrenaline rush that is next to nothing else on earth. Perhaps space travel could rival this effect, but I doubt it. The bungee jump goes beyond the limited religious and cultural conflicts of our modern day, and appeals to something more primitive, more basic. The modern bungee jumping culture is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multi-socio-economic group, all looking for the thrill of their lives.

So what does the modern bungee jumping culture look like? It defies logic. Both young and old alike flock to bungee jumping events. There is simply a mystique that permeates this sporting event like no other. Back to mother earth, defying death, and telling the tale – all of these are the bragging rights of successful bungee jumpers. They all share in common this aspect of the sport – survival. Jumpers face a primeval fear, the ultimate loss – death, and overcoming that fear to complete a jump. There is a sense of accomplishment and victory that goes beyond mountain climbing and other extreme sports.

Taking the back-to-nature theme to the extreme, there is a new movement within bungee jumping called nude bungee jumping. It typically appeals to the green back-to-earth movement, as well as the frugal bungee jumpers. Commercial bungee jumping outfitters usually provide a discount, or even a free jump, if someone decides to go the full monty. This type of jump is usually done with a partner, for a spiritual bonding that goes beyond the everyday realm. This is yet another evidence that the bungee jumping culture is evolving beyond normal boundaries, and we have yet to truly see what it will become.

A great deal of mountain climbing takes place in higher altitudes and colder temperatures. These are hardly unrelated, after all. But the peak of that activity, pun intended, is ice climbing.

Ice climbing is just what it sounds like: climbing up frozen water. From places as accessible as the Canadian Rockies to as remote as the far reaches of the Himalayas, ice climbing represents some of the toughest challenges possible.

Many of the same techniques used in other styles of climbing are used. Top roping is still top roping, even when the anchor is placed in a sheet of thick ice. But the actual climb takes on a whole new dimension.

Boots, just to name one example, are different. Alpine climbing requires good leather or composite boots, often with an insulating layer. But ice climbing will usually require more than that for any extended climb. Outer wraps help keep ice and snow from leeching inside the boot. Crampons, spiked add-ons that clamp to the sole, are often essential.

Using the boots and feet takes on a different style, as well. One common technique involves chopping ice steps into low grades. But for the more common steeper climb a combination of actions is required.

Climbers kick the ice to stab a crampon into it for support at the lower point. At the upper point of the body an ice pick is used. A vigorous swing over the head builds up enough momentum to allow the pick to penetrate into the ice a half-inch or more. If the ice is solid (always a question with ice), it will provide a good toe and hand hold to allow the climber to ascend.

At the same time, pro is frequently put in place. But the protective devices used in ordinary climbing take on a very different aspect in ice climbing.

While single rope, double rope and twin rope ascents are still used, the pro used differs sharply. Ice screws are common. These hollow tubes have sharp teeth on one end and a hook at the back for attaching onto. They’re placed into the ice much as one would a bolt into a rock. Usable pre-existing cracks in ice are pretty rare.

Some pro is formed from the ice itself. Two common methods are the V-thread and the Bollard.

In the first case, a pair of holes are bored into the ice, their ends touching at a point inside. The structure thus makes a ‘V’. A sling is then threaded into the ‘V’ and attached to rope and harness. The ice used is often thick and strong enough to support the weight of a large man with little risk of cracking and letting go.

In the second technique, a kind of saddle horn is carved in the ice and the sling is slung or a rope wrapped over the resulting horseshoe-shaped ice. Here again the ice may well be strong enough to support a climber and his partner.

The possible downside of this, or any technique used in ice climbing is the very unpredictable nature of the medium. Heated by sunrays, shifted invisibly by molecular forces or simply under the weight of a climber, ice can give way.

Judging the odds of it doing so at the wrong moment is part and parcel of what makes ice climbers truly the hardy adventurers their reputations suggest. But when done successfully, there are few climbing experiences more thrilling.

In days past, Static Line was the most common method of skydiving for beginners. As the skydiver exits the plane, an attached line deploys a pilot chute, which then opens the main canopy a few seconds later. Tandem skydiving grew later. Here, the novice is attached to a more experienced skydiver by a harness. The instructor is in control of chute deployment and every other aspect of the dive.

But both these methods have their drawbacks. Static Line provides the freedom of a solo jump right away, but with minimal free fall. Tandem can provide a lot of free fall, depending on the height of the jump (sometimes 10,000 feet – 3048 m or more). But the student is just a passive rider.

Through a combination of careful instruction and practical experience, the beginning skydivers get up to speed on all the ways to get the most out of this exciting activity. But with Static Line, a student may make 30 jumps before graduating. With AFF it can be as few as 8 assisted jumps followed by 10 solo skydives. Static Line training may take weeks to complete. AFF training can often be completed in as little as two days.

AFF combines the best aspects of each with the least amount of instructor control and guidance. In accelerated free fall, the instructor and student exit together as in tandem jumping. But far from being attached closely together by a harness, one or two instructors just grip the student by the hand or wrist.

They act on a coordinated set of signals, and sometimes with two-way radio communication. The instructor insures that the student is able and ready to deploy at the proper time. When the student follows the proper procedures, they deploy and land on their own with the instructor(s) nearby. When necessary, an instructor can open the chute for the student. An instructor can even pull the student in and provide a safe landing for both should anything go wrong.

AFF, as the name suggests, gets novice skydivers in the air and on their own as quickly as possible. As they progress through multiple jumps they gain experience in free fall techniques and other skills that lead in a few jumps to a license.

No license in the U.S. is required to jump out of a plane, provided the skydiver uses approved equipment. But skydiving schools and businesses have rules that they follow, usually set by the USPA (U.S. Parachute Association). A license allows the student to use those services in ways that unlicensed skydivers can not.

AFF training is done in stages, with the first set taking place on the ground. A series of lectures and demonstrations take 6-8 hours to run through (sometimes less). Often two instructors are part of the program, especially during the first jump. That gets the student up and running as fast as possible.

Early on, instructors will talk about how to achieve and maintain a stable body position. They discuss the experience, talking about altitude and free fall awareness. They cover how to activate the parachute and what happens. They’ll cover how to use the radio and what kind of things will be said.

AFF training covers how to deploy a pilot chute and how it in turn extracts the main canopy. They’ll discuss hover control, influencing direction and other skills. After a few jumps, they move to more advanced skills, such as flips, canopy control and others. Relative work, involving linking up with other divers and performing cooperative maneuvers may be discussed and practiced.

More and more novice skydivers are turning to AFF training to get up in the air on their own as quickly as possible.

Exclusive parachute use by the military is long over. Though they are still in use for military movements, they are better know now as an extreme sport as well as a game for kids. The use of parachutes has changed along with its development so they can now be used by ordinary civilians for recreation.

top 10 extreme sports

Maximum use is however for extreme sports where thrill seekers find it heavenly. Though it may not be referred to as any extreme sport, these days sky diving is regarded as another variant of parachute games and sports. Parachute sports are now a part and parcel of the Olympics where competitors and spectators get their due share of thrills in the various events. Along with skateboarding and snowboarding, X games an event comprising of extreme sports now include these games also.

A wide variety of parachute games are there for kids. In the large number of variants that are made for children, the essential motive is to help the development of team spirit and collaboration more than winning any competition. The kid parachute games include parashuffle, paraswap, parasight, paraseek, paraball, lucky 7, round the plughole, and shoe shuffle.

These games give adults the necessary adrenalin rush as well as takes them off from the humdrum of daily life. There are plenty of websites which could be visited if you wish to indulge in parachute sports. Getting admitted to any skydiving course could train you better too.

top 10 extreme sports

Paragliding and parasailing are two versions of parachute sports which are far gentler ways to indulge in parachute sports. Started by using the feet, paraglider is a type of aircraft which glides freely. When you are attached to a parasail any pulled fast by a boat, you are parasailing. Paragliding may carry some of the usual inherent dangers, it is not as perilous as some of the following sports.

Take the instance of speed skydiving where the skydiver is expected to take a jump from an aircraft, which is 13000 feet above ground level. Here the skydiver speeds up during his vertical fall, with head first, on to a pre-set measuring area. The measuring zone can range from 8850 to 5570 feet.

Here the board is attached to the feet of the diver which can then be used for doing a variety of feats in the sky. The skydiver can always land using the board which is still attached to him or may decide to kick off the board before he hits the ground. Because of the inherent dangers involved in skysurfing, divers who are completely thorough with the sport and who have the requisite know how play this sport.

A variety of jumping exists where you can leap off various structures. Any defect in the parachute opening, can be fatal for the diver. Base jumpers need to react as fast as possible since they do not have the necessary altitude for a comfortable free fall. The parachute ought to be utilized with precision because any momentary delay may cause the jumper to fall with a thud and even break his neck in the process. Chute packing, correct deployment and canopy controlling are a few of the many skills of a jumper. Parachute diving is full of awe-inspiring thrills but it can also be extremely dangerous so if this interests you get enrolled in a skydiving program and start from the basic level.

Like in any game, there are risks for injuries. The game of paintball is no exception.

Below are some safety tips that you can use in your next game of paintball:

Wear your paintball masks at all times during a game, even in the dead zone. Do not take your mask off until the game is over. Many injuries occur when players do not follow this rule

Ensure that paintball velocities at kept at 280 (or below) feet per second (FPS). Specialty Paintball shops have the necessary equipment to test this.

Never fire your guns without looking where you are firing (blind firing), doing so is dangerous as you may hit and injure spectators, referees and other players leaving the field.

Barrel plugs should be used when you are not using your gun, in addition to safeties in on position. Do not remove your barrel plugs unless everybody around you is wearing a mask.

Never play paintball under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription medicine. You will be a danger to others and yourself.

Use common sense to avoid unnecessary problems. Don’t shoot private property. Don’t shoot out of a moving vehicle. Don’t look down the barrel of a loaded gun. Don’t shoot yourself, etc.

On the down side, the sport is extreme dangerous and accidents often happen when you least expect it.

Why do crashes happen?

Lack of fitness. – Dirt bikes are not easy to control, If the rider is not physically fit, he will not have have the required strength to control and maneuver the bike.

Fatigue. After riding for some period of time, fatigue will set in, your mind is only half working causing the body’s reflexes to slow down. This may inadvertently cause a mishap.

Lack of concentration – The lack of concentration causes the rider to lose focus when riding the bike. It is highly recommended for the rider not to go dirt biking when he is experiencing an emotional turmoil

Human error – it might be the fault of the rider or another rider.

The bike may have mechanical problems in the middle of the race.

The course or the obstacles might just be too difficult for the rider to negotiate.

Although dirt biking accidents when you least expect it, a rider can minimize the chances of it occurring, by wearing safety proper safety equipment, by focusing fully on riding the bike, keeping a level head and using common sense.

In Snowboarding we need to especially mindful of safety, as in any extreme sport the risk of injury is greater. To reduce the chance of getting serious snowboarding injuries we need to gear ourself with safety equipment designed for snowboarding.

Listed below are some snowboard safety equipment:

Helmet – impact with terrain or man made structures can lead to serious head injuries. The snowboarding helmets is vital regardless of your snowboarding abilities.

Hip Pads – cushions your fall, they have specially design padding to prevent coccyx (tailbone) injury.

Wrist guards – wrist injuries are by far the most common in snowboarding. it is recommended especially for beginners as they often slip backward and use their hands to break the fall. Hard impacts to the wrist can result in sprains or fractures.

Knee pads – these protects the knees from hard collisions and unexpected impacts when turning.

It does not matter if you are a beginner or advanced, due to the dangerous nature of the alpine sport. wearing protective gear is highly recommended to all participants in snowboarding. Although it is difficult to avoid mishaps in snowboarding, we can minimize them by keeping fit, focusing on the task at hand, being level headed and a health dose of common to keep us out of harm’s way.

We may know someone who loves to play soccer. This enthralling game has many people in its grasp. You will find that there are many stores that stock various items for soccer. There is also another side to soccer that few of us are aware of. This is the world of soccer games. While many of you are probably thinking about how many ways soccer can be played, there are others of you who may be lost.

Well for all of you I will invite you into a journey into the world of soccer games. Our first stop is that of the internet. Here in your favorite search engine type out soccer games and see what you can catch. You will soon see that as far as the internet and other companies are concerned soccer games means games that can be played by individuals in a variety of ways – just not the way that you had imagined.

There are the old fashioned table soccer games where two people control a team of “soccer players”. These little figures are controlled by rods and you use these rods to move your team in order to block the soccer ball from entering your team goal zone.

While there maybe some people who like to play these soccer games many people prefer the more high tech soccer games that you can buy. These games can be video games or 3D interactive soccer games. Now in the video games you select the game that you want to play and decide what your skill level is. The next item that you will decide is your team. For this you will have a list of soccer teams where you can be a part of the team.

The next step in these video soccer games is to use your character to defeat the opposing team. The level of realism in these games will depend on the various type of game that you select. In interactive 3D games you become part of the game itself. Here you are a member of a soccer team and you are in a soccer match with them. In this type of soccer games you experience all of the joys and defeats of your team.

So the next time that you look for soccer games instead of looking towards the soccer field you might want to look in your toy store or electronic game store for some soccer games for you to try out and become a part of the soccer world.

The diameter of the contact area was 588 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 706 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. Therefore, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the past 5 minutes.
For 2 hours gain settings were standardized and kept constant. Further, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with annoying tennisarm. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 8 years. Results are presented as mean. However, there were no significant differences after 6 months.
The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. Epicondylitis lateralis, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. Next 9 days, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. All PPT measurements were conducted 29 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. Indeed, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.
Nevertheless, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. Therefore, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 3 weeks in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable. The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 112 to 405. An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 606 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the gone 2 weeks.
Further, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 2 hours.
Indeed, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 3 months. B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on three patients with unilateral annoying tennisarm.

The question over choosing the right go-kart chassis boils down to flexibility. High traction tires and a stiff frame is a recipe for disaster, causing your machine to turn stiffly and generate strenuous effort on the curves. Low traction tires will cause uneven weight transfer and break apart your frame like bread crumbs. Options for frames mainly depend on what type of Off Road Go Carts you’re riding, as each go-kart and their engine work best under certain scenarios. Stiff frames are a staple of 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines and flexible frames are found with higher horsepower engines. Remember, the more rigorous the circuit, the more flexible a chassis should be!

Be like Superman for a day.

You want to fly? This is the closest a human being can get to flying. Skydiving will certainly give you the rush you are looking for. Imagine being flown u in the air on an airplane, and jump from in with nothing but a parachute on. This will surely be a memorable experience. There are a lot of skydiving centers all across the United States so finding one will not be a difficult task. These centers will first teach you the basic skills on skydiving before they put you up there. Plus each one of them has their own safety guidelines so you do not have to worry about your safety.

You can also be Aqua man.

Are you afraid of heights? Not a problem. There are also extreme sports you can do on the water. How about jet skis? If you want to feel that cool ocean breeze, experience the water and at the same time feel some speed, well riding a jet ski is just for you. You can splash around the water with speeds up to 90 miles per hour. There are many places where you can rent a jet ski if you can’t afford to buy one.

You can also keep your feet on the ground, if you like. You can experience it all at Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort.

If you are not a fan of the water and does not enjoy it that much, there is still this option of dong it on land. You can have an extreme adventure on land in the form on an all-terrain vehicle. This vehicle can reach speeds up to 65 miles per hour and can go through any terrain. This is fun because you can explore and get close to our environment.

Whatever type of extreme sport you are into, you will certainly have an adventure trip worth remembering.

Bungee jumping is a recreational activity that involves jumping from a high surface while attached to an elastic cord. One end of this elastic cord is attached to the jumper’s body, while the other end is attached to a stationary object at the jumping point. Typically, bungee jumping involves leaping from jumping points that are several hundred feet or meters high. The elastic cord used in this activity is designed to stretch during the jumper’s fall and snap back up repeatedly. This causes the jumper to bounce up and down over the length of the jumping area until the energy from the jump has been depleted.

As you can imagine, there is much more to this sport than just grabbing a bungee cord, tying off and jumping. Physics and math are required to ‘design’ the jump so that the jumper’s head comes within a foot or so of terra firma, while at the same time, the bungee cord has reached its maximum extension and starts to pull the jumper back up. Beyond the physics and math, it is highly recommended that the jumper be in great physical shape and either be an expert at setting up the jump or be closely supervised by an expert.

Bungee Jumping originated on the Pacific island of Pentecoste, where for centuries the Venuatuan natives tested their manhood by leaping from bamboo towers with vines tied to their ankles. Documented by National Geographic photographer Kal Muller in 1970, the phenomenon came to the United States in 1979, when four members of the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge on elastic, latex cords. Following A. J. Hackett’s infamous jump from the Eiffel Tower in 1987, professionally operated bungee jumping facilities have flourished both in America and abroad.

Today bungee jumping attracts thousands of American thrill-seekers each year.

It emphasis correct form and feeling with each and every movement, which is why it is always taught to be practiced in a slow and gentle fashion.

By involving the entire body with little to no impact, Tai Chi promotes strength, flexibility, and stamina. With the entire body being taught to move as a whole, Tai Chi cultivates the link among the mind and the body, helping to enhance one’s coordination and balance. It can also help with the joints as well, especially if an individual is very stiff in the joints.

Although it was developed to be a martial art, it involves very little striking, offensive, or even defense techniques. Tai Chi is a movement and breathing art that works all of the major muscles and joints in the body, helping to circulate internal energy, or chi. The Chinese believe that internal energy, or chi is what prevents or stops diseases.

When practicing the art, the body will remain very soft and relaxed, just like it was suspended from the top of the head with the joints being similar to that of a puppet. The mind of the student is focused on each movement, focusing on the flow of energy. By being relaxed and focused, you allow the energy to flow through your entire body. This can be some of the hardest Martial Arts Drills to perfect.

Even though you are soft and relaxed, you are still constantly moving. The energy that flows through your body never stops, it keeps you moving. When you move in reality, it takes little to no energy to make a movement. By using your chi, everything you do seems as if it is weightless.

In combat, the Tai Chi student uses his opponent’s energy against him. The stylist is very relaxed, believing that the energy of the opponent can be used against him. There is little to no strength involved. When the opponent becomes weak and tires himself out – the stylist attacks. This way, there is very little energy left for defense or even attacking.

Tai Chi is one of the oldest styles of martial arts, and one of the hardest to find these days. Just like other martial arts, such as Tiger Claw and Ninjutsu, it can be very hard to find a dojo that teaches the art. If you can find a dojo that teaches the art of Tai Chi, you really shouldn’t pass it up. It can teach you a lot about internal energy and your spiritual well being – learning more about yourself than you ever thought possible in the process.

Martial Arts Lessons
There are plenty of reasons to get your children into martial arts, but there are several reasons why you might be a little concerned. One major worry that parents have about sending their children to a martial arts class is that the materials taught in the class will make their child more aggressive, and worse, give them the ability to act on that aggression. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth!

Sit in on a class that you are considering sending your child to. In many martial arts classes, there will be a hierarchy of older, more practiced students at the top and less experienced students below them. Watch how the older class treats the younger; you will find that in many schools, it is typical that the older students will help tutor the younger ones. There is a sense of responsibility there, and as your own child gains experience, he or she will understand that the role of someone who is stronger is to help someone who is weaker or less experienced.

There are also several martial arts that are completely oriented towards self-defense, rather than attack. For instance, aikido is used to redirect an attacker’s force against him. There are also noncompetitive martial arts that don’t feature sparring at all. When you are looking for a martial art school for your child, make sure that you sit on a few sessions. Is the emphasis on defense, and how is the session divided up? Is it a competitive environment or a cooperative one?

Think about what you are interested in having your child learn in his or her martial art. Are you more interested in self defense, or encouraging healthy habits? You may want your child to be in a martial art to teach him discipline and self-control. With the right martial art, you can make sure that your child learns all of these things. Becoming a bully is not something your child will pick up in a martial arts class. Make sure that you speak with your child about the class before enrolling him. Tell him that he is not learning to beat up other people, he’s learning to take care of himself.

One of the most important things that martial arts can teach a child is self-control. One typical training exercise used in several martial arts is to do everything at half-speed, whether they are kicks or punches. Through this conscious slowing of their movements, the students learn to think about their attacks and how much effort they put into their strikes.

Martial arts classes are wonderful tool to help your child develop a calm center and to encourage him to lead a healthy life. They do not foster aggression, nor do they promote aggressive behavior towards others. Go to a martial arts class to observe, and you will see that while respect and self-control are encouraged, bullying is most definitely not!

It’s so cold, it’s so wet, and it’s so dangerous? Please let me share why we are not Crazy!

For Everyone.

Snow skiing is one of the really exciting sports that combine exhilaration, fellowship, ambience and adventure, for all levels of participants. In Europe, children are being taught to ski as young as 2 years old and on the same slopes there are people over 90 years young. There are people of every nationality, race, creed and colour. There are one armed, one legged and even blind people, involved everywhere, at some level. What is the appeal of a sport that brings so many different people together, amidst the cold snow, in the sprit of friendliness and just having a good time?

Ambience.

So you have finished your dinner and you sit in the armchairs in front of the roaring log fire. The shadows flicker gently on the walls as the flames continue their dance in the huge fireplace. You feel relaxed, comfortable and sleepy as you spend time with your new friends. For some, the cobwebs fill your brain and you drift off to sleep. Others will gain a second wind and be off to the local nightspot to party. And finally, you toddle off to bed and descend into the deep relaxing, well earned sleep, from which even the party goers returning home, cannot stir you.

Adventure.

Skiing is always an adventure. When as beginner, you go up to the first time on the chair lift and see the steepness of that blue slope, your heart starts to flutter. Exactly the same when, as an accomplished skier, you stand on top of the almost vertical expanse of virgin snow, spread out below you. It is an adventure when you are having lunch, high in the mountains, surrounded by the giant peaks and deep valleys that seem to go forever. And meeting men and women from all walks of life, foreign cultures, struggling with language and customs, is all part of the adventure.

So skiing is a passion for me. I learned to ski late in life and after finding it, discovered a wonderful world of fun, friendship and adventure. So you are welcome to my world and may you share in all of the above, and then some!!

Whether you are a casual or a serious bicycle rider, having the right kind of bicycle accessories can greatly enhance your riding experience.

At the top of the list of required bicycle equipment for everyone should be a bicycle computer, or cyclocomputer as it is often called. These are widely available at local bike shops and online at prices starting around $20 for a basic unit, all the way up to $350 for super sophisticated units that measure and monitor everything, even your heart beat as you climb that hill or catch your breath at a stopsign.

There are still other units out there like the Edge series from Garmin that use global positioning satellites to plot your route and measure your speed and distance.

For most riders, there’s no need to spend a fortune. Getting the right bicycle equipment for measuring your performance is not any ore expensive that feeding a family of four dinner at an inexpensive fast food restaurant.

Here are the top two functions your cyclocomputer needs to have.

A speed indicator – Knowing how fast you go is not only a lot of fun but it is an important measurement to write and and compare as part of your training regimen. In general, you want to get stronger. And the faster you go is a pretty god indication of how strong you are.

An odometer – Similarly, you want to know how far you’ve traveled. The GPS units keep track of this automatically. For most of the others, you need to set the distance your bike wheel turns over a short route of, say, 10 feet or so. That setting calibrates the unit for you.

Those two, of course, are the essentials. You should easily find these at bicycle stores for between $20 and $30.

Here are three “extras” that will make your riding and training more enjoyable. They won’t add much to your cost and are highly worth the cost.

A cadence counter – Cadence is how many revolutions per minute your spin the pedals. Pro riders routinely average 120 rpm. For maximum efficiency, you should strive for at least 80.

A time of day function – Might as well look at the cyclocomputer rather than your wrist watch. No more excuses for getting lost in the ride and missing an important meeting or family obligation/

An average function – It’s nice to be able to step through the cyclocomputer and be able to see your average speed and cadence.

See why a cyclocomputer is so handy? It gives riders a benchmark by which to compare their improvement over time. Needless to say, all the data collected by the device should be logged in a journal or notebook.

These devices are very simple to install. Often, the local bike shop will do the work for you for just a few extra dollars. But anyone can do it. Total installation time is about 15 minutes.
